This tool, new to the province of Newfoundland, will be piloted within the Manufacturing/Value-Added sector in this region to determine if the WILM is of value to utilize within Newfoundland workplaces. The specific objectives include: 1. Increase awareness of an existing workplace essential skills tool (WILM). 2. Increase employee retention and essential skills, identify strengths and areas for improvement relating to information essential skills learning. 3. Increase the use of successful literacy and essential skills tools into the regular business practices of SMEs.

Cet outil, utilisé pour la première fois dans la province de Terre Neuve et Labrador, sera mis à l'essai au sein du secteur des produits manufacturés à valeur ajoutée dans ces régions, pour déterminer s'il est pertinent d'utiliser la MAIT dans les milieux de travail de Terre Neuve. Les objectifs énoncés sont les suivants : 1. Sensibiliser davantage à l'outil existant sur les compétences essentielles en milieu de travail (MAIT). 2. Accroître le taux de maintien en poste des employés et améliorer les compétences essentielles de ces derniers; déterminer les forces et les points à améliorer relativement aux renseignements sur l'apprentissage des compétences essentielles. 3. Faire en sorte que les experts en la matière utilisent davantage d'outils d'alphabétisation et d'apprentissage des compétences essentielles dans le cadre de leurs pratiques courantes.
