- The Town of Torbay offers some of the best hiking opportunities in the North East Avalon Region. The Town has a mix of iconic East Coast Trails and municipal trails for all to enjoy. Torbay Trails consist of Class A Compacted gravel that are rated Easy, hosting over 25 placemaking furniture that includes beaches, gazebos and bridge look-outs. There is an existing groomed trail along Whiteway's Pond that leads to a developed day-use picnic area along the shoreline of whiteway's Pond. The proposed addition, less than 1 KM, will extend the trail and create a trail-head or access point from the road, improving the ability to access the trail, offering a designated parking area and increase awareness of the recreational area by creating a visible trail access point for users to identify. All demographics will benefit from this addition and extension to the existing trail as the current trail does not have an access point and users must access from road side and across a small greenbelt area which creates much difficulty for strollers, wheelchairs and anyone with mobility restrictions.

- La ville de Torbay possède certains des meilleurs sentiers de randonnée dans la région du nord-est d’Avalon, soit une combinaison de l’iconique East Coast Trail et de sentiers municipaux qui plairont à tous. En gravier compacté de catégorie A, les sentiers de Torbay sont classés comme faciles et comportent plus de 25 haltes avec mobilier, notamment des bancs, des abris de jardin et des belvédères de pont. Un sentier entretenu longe l’étang Whiteway jusqu’à une aire de fréquentation diurne et de pique-nique sur le rivage de l’étang Whiteway. L’ajout proposé, de moins de 1 km, vise à prolonger le sentier et à créer un début de sentier ou point d’accès à partir de la route, pour faciliter l’accès au sentier, offrir un stationnement désigné et mieux faire connaître cette aire récréative en créant un point d’accès visible au sentier. Les personnes de tous âges profiteront de cet ajout et de ce prolongement au sentier existant, car il n’y a pas de point d’accès à ce dernier et les usagers doivent y accéder au bord de la route et à travers une petite ceinture verte qui pose des problèmes pour les poussettes, les fauteuils roulants et les personnes à mobilité réduite.
