- OPASS software suite will facilitate pilot-friendly Autonomous Underwater Vehicle guidance/navigation simulator useful for pilot training, mission planning and mission completion. This simulator will be a significant step forward in terms of providing mission specialists with the capacity to deploy their AUVs with a much greater degree of confidence and cost efficiency in achieving ocean research mission objectives. Featuring rich environmental data displays, it will accurately simulate at-sea conditions without vehicle risk. The research and development work considered within this project is still directly related to early stage R&D feasibility to determine if real time environmental data can be synthesized into finite blocks of software code and then combined with instructional navigation coding in a manner that facilities an accurate simulation tool.

- La suite logicielle OPASS facilitera l'utilisation d'un simulateur de guidage/navigation de véhicule sous-marin autonome convivial pour la formation des pilotes ainsi que la planification et la réalisation des missions. Ce simulateur, qui constituera une avancée significative, fournira aux spécialistes des missions la capacité de déployer leurs véhicules sous-marin autonomes (VSA) avec un degré de confiance et de rentabilité bien plus élevé pour atteindre les objectifs des missions de recherche océanique. Doté d'un affichage riche en données environnementales, il simulera avec précision les conditions en mer sans risque pour les véhicules. Les travaux de recherche et de développement envisagés dans le cadre de ce projet sont encore directement liés aux premiers stades de la faisabilité de la R-D afin de déterminer si les données environnementales en temps réel peuvent être synthétisées dans des blocs finis de code logiciel, puis combinées avec un codage de navigation didactique de manière à obtenir un outil de simulation précis.
