- Plastic waste originating from research labs and medical facilities within the province has been overlooked and unaddressed. BioLabMate has taken an innovative approach toward developing a biodegradable bioplastics solution by harnessing bio-based polymers, such as seaweed pellets. In response to the environmental challenges posed by conventional plastics used in the research lab that require immediate attention. This project have two key objectives: Developing a seaweed-based pellet to produce a lab-scale product for rigorous testing. The investigation of feasibility for the commercial fabrication of these pellets. The final goal is to utilize these pellets in manufacturing biodegradable, bioplastic laboratory supplies.
