- Construction Project Summary Upon recent inspection of the Very High Frequency (VHF) radio site, it was evident that the roof requires repairs in order to extend the life span of the building. The roof structure is built from steel beams with a roof framing slope of 2:12. A total of 240 90mm x 610mm x 610mm (weigh approximately 90lbs each) concrete blocks are placed on the roof membrane to avoid damage from high winds. Work for this project consists of replacing the existing roof membrane. This will be done in sections by relocating the current concrete blocks to another section of the roof to expose the existing torch on membrane. The existing membrane will be removed, as well as the fiberboard underneath. New fiberboard will then be installed as required. The roof eve is to be built out an additional 75mm all around the perimeter of the roof. New 0.64mm pre-finished metal flashing to be installed. 170N geotextile will be installed on top of the new ethylene propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM) membrane. Once secured, the concrete blocks will be placed back on top of the geotextile. Note: Concrete blocks will not be replaced as the proper equipment to remove and replace new concrete blocks is not able to access the site. The road has become inaccessible to trucks and larger equipment. The work included in this contract is specified in the format of general specification document with specific works identified on drawings. The contractor remains responsible for the appropriation of the work between the trade, contractors, his own forces and suppliers. The Engineer will not be responsible for determination of or for providing opinion on the scope of work split between sub-contractors and trade jurisdictions. - Résumé du projet de construction Une récente inspection du site radio à très haute fréquence (VHF) a révélé des signes évidents que des réparations de la toiture s’imposent afin de prolonger la durée de vie du bâtiment. La charpente de toit est faite de poutres d’acier et présente une pente de 2:12. Au total, 240 dalles de béton de 90 mm x 610 mm x 610 mm (poids approximatif de 90 lb chacune) sont placées sur la membrane du toit pour prévenir les dommages causés par les forts vents. Les travaux du projet consistent à remplacer la membrane d’étanchéité du toit. Ces travaux seront réalisés en sections, en déplaçant les dalles de béton à une autre section du toit pour exposer la membrane existante posée au chalumeau. Cette dernière sera enlevée, ainsi que le panneau de fibres sous-jacent. Un nouveau panneau de fibres sera installé, s’il y a lieu. L’avant-toit doit être prolongé de 75 mm additionnels tout autour du périmètre du toit. Un nouveau solin métallique de 0,64 mm préfini doit être installé. Un géotextile 170N sera installé sur la nouvelle membrane de terpolymère d’éthylène-propylène-diène (EPDM). Les dalles de béton seront replacées sur le géotextile, une fois ce dernier bien fixé. Nota : Les dalles de béton ne seront pas remplacées, car l’équipement requis pour les enlever et les remplacer par de nouvelles n’est pas en mesure de se rendre sur les lieux. La route est devenue impraticable pour les camions et les engins de grande taille. Les travaux visés par le présent contrat sont précisés dans un document de spécifications générales comprenant des dessins sur lesquels sont indiqués les travaux particuliers. L’entrepreneur demeure responsable de la répartition des travaux entre les corps de métier, les entrepreneurs, ses propres employés et ses fournisseurs. L’ingénieur n’est pas responsable de déterminer la portée des travaux de chacun des sous-traitants et groupes de métiers ni de fournir son opinion sur celle-ci.
