Demonstrate the Value of Using Ground Penetrating Radar and LIDAR to Detect Mineral Grade Differences in a Tailings Pond

A flag is a question, not a finding. It is not evidence that anything wrong happened.

IRAP Contributions to Firms projects stimulate wealth creation for Canada through technological innovation.
    description_en
BMSI will deliver a unique resource definition project using advanced technology and ground-truthing techniques to improve mining efficiency. Multiple technologies and techniques will be used to interrogate a mine tailings pond to improve understanding of the distribution of targeted barium-rich tailings. LIDAR analysis (3D photogrammetry) will be used to create a surface elevation model and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) will be used to survey the sub-surface (3-4 meters below ground). Those technologies will be measured against a traditional sampling regime, namely a Vibracore that will collect vertical tailings samples. This will help determine if LIDAR/GPR are effective tools for examining mine tailings deposits.
